The Sundowner Cruise is a magical cruise departing from Layana beach (or from Saladan Pier between May and October or if rough seas) at 4:30pm through the untouched mangrove forests lying between Koh Lanta Yai and Koh Lanta Noi around the north and down the east coast of Koh Lanta. You can see many Macaque monkeys and a variety of birdlife. A fabulous way to enjoy the evenings sunset behind the hills in the very peacefully tranquil mangrove area. The trip includes delicious snacks prepared by our chefs, refreshments, wine and beer. Disembarking after dark at Saladan village, 5 kms from Layana Resort, where we return by minivan around 7:00pm.
Depart Layana in 4WD jeeps traveling approximately 40 minutes to the Marine National Park. Leave jeeps and follow a trail into the lush and dense jungle. Enormous majestic trees, trailing liana vines and giant palms shade the trail and the sounds of birds and forest wild life can be clearly heard. Total walking time approximately 1 hour. Rejoin jeeps and drive via a Sea Gypsy Village back to Layana. This walk involves scrambling up and down quite steep slopes and a degree of agility is necessary. Insect repellent and sensible walking shoes recommended.
Sightseeing around Lanta Island by jeep or minivan. Visit Sea Gypsy Village, Lanta Old Town, elephant camp, observes a rubber-tapping demonstration and go shopping at Saladan. Trip duration is about 4 hours, leaving from Layana at 9:00am and returning by 1:00pm.
Cycle on the evergreen freshness route with the Leisure staff, nice and relaxing especially for all levels of fitness and cycling ability – duration approximately 1 hour.
